Hello, I’m Carly

My full name is Carly Mitchell and I am the owner of Rhythmic Writing Proofreading. I live in Solihull, UK, with my husband, our two children and our golden retriever, Marvin.

Education and previous career

I started my working life as an accountant. As well as gaining a lot of experience in a variety of industries I achieved several accountancy qualifications, most notably the Association of Accounting Technicians NVQ level 4. Most recently I worked as the Assistant Accountant in the European Head Office of a multi-national company. I had to be accurate and meet tight deadlines for this work which are skills that are essential for my proofreading career.

In 2020, after much thought and consideration, I decided to retrain as a proofreader, because I felt I wanted to spend my time working with and helping writers and authors. I am a trained and qualified proofreader: I completed and passed the Publishing Training Centre’s Essential Proofreading course and I have also gained their Essential Grammar certificate. I am not stopping there though, I believe very firmly in continuing my professional development and am currently working on gaining more qualifications and knowledge so that I can provide an excellent service.

A little more about myself

Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I participated in rhythmic gymnastics at a high level, competing in countless national and regional competitions. This is a sport I still love and which became the inspiration for my business name.

Many years on, I am still very much a sporty person. When I am not running around the streets of my local area, I can usually be found on a lake or river on my paddleboard. I have completed the London marathon twice, in 2015 and 2018.
